Be Brave. Be you.
“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.”

I am a writer, cultural alchemist, artist, cultivator & sommelier who has worked in various parts of the food/wine industries and non-profit sector. My food justice lens has been shaped by experiencing food apartheid for most of my life while working in the hospitality, food & beverage, and culinary media industries where I noticed a harmful trend; the projection of false perfection and erasure of global majority culinarians, narratives of People of the Global Majority, and recognition of their contributions to the culinary world and the environment. The seeds of my interest in food justice and appreciation for food were sown from my childhood experience of growing food alongside my mother in my great-grandparent’s garden and eating my father’s home-cooked meals. Shortly after college, I worked as a harvest intern at a New York winery, which reconnected me back to the land for the first time in my adulthood. After that harvest, I volunteered at community gardens in Brooklyn, NY before moving back to Connecticut, where I volunteered in more gardens, growing food with people at their homes while collaborating with grassroots organizations for projects based around food justice.
I come from a long lineage of African-American & Jamaican farmers, creatives, and entrepreneurs. I constantly draw inspiration from the activism and love of my great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, elders, and peers. My commitment to my art, storytelling, and food sovereignty is rooted in my core belief that our stories, real food, healing, as well as safe environments, and climate resiliency, are absolutely essential for all humans, living beings, and the earth.
I am a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute (now Natural Gourmet Center at the Institute of Culinary Education), Soul Fire Farm’s FIRE Immersion program, and Syracuse University. Currently, I am working on my own creative projects while assisting purpose-driven artists, changemakers, and entrepreneurs in raising capital to expand their work while cultivating communities of belonging, healing, and care.
